SDk03 / the built environment and urban decay

SDk03 / the built environment and urban decay

It's time we took you to a place, one that may have been there for a while in your subconcious, but that you've never really noticed. We'll take you in, explore the depths, and in doing so, open your mind and pour in a monstrous amount of darkness... you'll never be the same again.

SDk02 / the corset in contemporary and historical fashion

SDk02 / the corset in contemporary and historical fashion

What defined SDk01 was taken a step further with SDk02: photography of a rare beauty by Dutch photographer Jenny Boot and Belgian photographer Viona Ielegems; the ethereal-yet-carnal artwork by the artist who graced Blade Runner, Alan Daniels (with an article written by his daughter); research articles that push analysis of the vital sociocultural dilemma of “tabloid culture” to the next level; critiques of our economic and financial systems; and another original short story written for SDk by acclaimed erotica author Marilyn Jaye Lewis. And all of this was bound tightly together by the historical and contempory presence of another fashion icon: the corset.

SDk01 / the history and culture of the stiletto heel

SDk01 / the history and culture of the stiletto heel

Our debut, SDk01 laid the foundations for the magazine’s future by, among other measures, setting the ground rules for the way we think and the way we’re going to publish. This includes establishing our standards in both the quality and depth of coverage of cultural issues, and our technical innovation. SDk01 featured eye-catching photography and artwork, in-depth research on sociocultural issues and fashion history, and an astounding short story written especially for us by American author Anne Tourney. This was only the beginning.
